Occupational health service rolled out to more trusts
Occupational health will be delivered to a further two partners after our service went live at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust in January and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at the beginning of April.
North London Partners Shared Services (NLPSS) now provides occupational health services to seven trusts in the partnership, with Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust expected to transfer its service towards the end of the year.
As part of the NLPSS offering, staff have greater access to occupational health support, provided from one centralised hub with face-to-face care provided by teams at six locations across north central London.
NLPSS head of clinical services, Patricia Ighomereho, said: “Our network of occupational health sites means that staff can access face-to-face appointments for assessments and vaccinations at multiple locations across north central London that is most convenient to them.”
Throughout 2023, we also implemented the online occupational health system, G2, as part of plans to deliver a more responsive service with improved access. We are continuing to roll out G2 to any new trusts who join the service from day one of transfer.
For some trusts, this is the first time they have had access to an online referral system for occupational health, bringing with it the benefit of faster referrals to support earlier interventions for staff. The G2 system also integrates with the Trac recruitment platform for a more streamlined process that reduces the time it takes to hire candidates and enables consistent standards and practices to be implemented across the trusts.
NLPSS business development director, Gareth Jones, said: “Having one system for all trusts in the partnership enables us to manage demand, supporting staff when they need it the most, as well as maintaining a high-quality service for all.
“It is also another positive step forward in our corporate shared services initiative which has been made possible through collaborative working of all those involved. A huge thank you to the NLPSS and trust teams who have made this possible.”
