Responding to the 10 Year Health Plan for England

The Government’s Ten Year Health Plan for England sets out the road ahead to a new model of care that is it for the future. The plan focuses, as expected, on the 3 shifts for the NHS:

  • hospital to community
  • analogue to digital
  • sickness to prevention

It also talks to the wider system transformation needed to deliver these shifts:

  • a new operating model
  • a new era of transparency
  • a new workforce model with staff genuinely aligned with the future direction of reform
  • a reshaped innovation strategy
  • a different approach to NHS finances

The plan aims to deliver real change, choice and control of their health and care for patients through a radically different neighbourhood health service.  It also sends a strong message that these shifts can only be delivered by a motivated workforce. Improving staff experience is a priority.

People at the heart of it

At North London Partners Shared Services (NLPSS), our mission is to deliver excellent patient care, through an outstanding employee experience for both our staff, and over 40,000 NHS colleagues who use our corporate services.

Improving staff experience

We will continue to deliver an impactful transformation programme to optimise our occupational health and wellbeing service, so it best supports the health and wellbeing needs of our customers. The service is transitioning to proactive prevention and its holistic, tiered offer will support mental health, musculoskeletal health and health through menopause.

With a growing footprint in north central London, we also take a proactive role in our communities so that local people, including young people with care experience, are aware of the many jobs and opportunities that are available in the NHS. As part of this, we offer work experience placements to local students, care leavers and others, including internships to those from under-represented communities within London.

Delivering corporate services reliably and efficiently

We know what works when it comes to working more efficiently. By harnessing digital technology, including award winning robotic process automation (RPA) in our recruitment service, and trusted expertise in payroll and medical workforce issues, our integrated, automated processes are already achieving crucial time and cost savings for our service teams. This delivers a better experience for both our own staff and for those staff accessing our services from across our ICS, taking away the administrative burden from frontline staff and releasing time to care.

From plan to delivery

We are energised by the 10 Year Health Plan and welcome conversations about what’s next. We also look forward to continuing to evolve and scale our innovative, digitally enabled, and people-centred approach to shared services, so our partners and customers are motivated and ready to lead the way on delivering this ambitious plan.
